Held by your Shadow
Held by your Shadow
Many moons ago I was doing photography for a nightclub in Somerset West every time they had an event. One night a girl asked me if I could take some photos of her for her to get her modeling career started. We ended up at the Eerste River in Stellenbosch by the hangbridge. I was on the bridge and she was down by the river on a concrete slab. My favourite photo was the one I used years later for this painting. Unlike in the painting, she was fully clothed. I was more interested in the pose and how she seemed jumping and looked suspended in mid-air. It looked like she was leaping and her shadow was holding onto her, hence the name. The painting can be hung in portrait or landscape orientation. I prefer her jumping and not reclining. What do you think?
The original oil on canvas of "Held by your Shadow" is currently on exhibition at FOMO Gallery in Pringle Bay.
